Sega has been going on the rampage and shutting down ROM sites like the devil. ROMs are exact copies of the video or arcade game, and can be played on readily available emulators. Within 10 days, 220 sites have been shutdown, and they're now gunning for Swapoo.

Jeffrey Freeman, the 17 year old student who created the Napster / Gnutella like Swapoo (formerly called ROMnet) said he plans to add a server side filter to block illegal file types.

Granted, that'll probably just force people to zip all their ROMs, but he's committed to stopping illegal copying, claiming to have created the file swapping utility for something to put on his resume.
