Microsoft announces purchase of Gamegrene.com (A.P.)

REDMOND, WA - April 1, 2001 -- Microsoft has announced their intention to purchase far-left gaming website www.gamegrene.com as part of a move to bolster their soon-to-be-released X-Box platform.

"They made (us) an offer (we) couldn't refuse," said Michael "Aeon" Fiegel of aethereal FORGE, a regular site contributor and co-editor. "I mean, who's going to say no to 10 Million dollars, even if it is Canadian money? 10 Million! That's like almost 50 bucks American. It was well worth it."

Fiegel indicated that site creator and chief editor, Kevin "Morbus" Hemenway, was unavailable for comment. "You really shouldn't bother him," said Fiegel. "He's like on vacation or something. He doesn't need to be bothered with this. Really."

The news came as quite a shock to Hemenway when we finally contacted him.

"What the [deleted]? You're serious? [deleted] [deleted]! That little [deleted] [deleted]. I'll kill him. I take a week or two off and leave him in charge and he sells the site? [deleted]!"

Hemenway assured us that the site would be purchased back from Microsoft April 2.
