Gamers.com Next On The Firing Line?
In a completely unexpected move yesterday, the board of directors for GX-Media Inc. ordered the layoff of almost the entire staff of Gamers.com. This included the entire editorial department. Problems in the .com world along with severely sharp decreases in advertising revenues were the stated reasons for this drastic move. I will lose access to my account this afternoon, so please do not respond to this post.

Gentlemen,

I can be reached at my home account concerning any questions you may have. As to any outstanding contracts, I believe they plan to honor the ones that we received prior to the layoffs, but if you haven't sent yours in yet, your out of luck.
I cannot apologize enough for this, they gave me absolutely no warning of the pending disaster. If they had I never would have started up the reviews and caused everyone all this grief for nothing.
Sincerely,

I know all about the layoffs at Gamers.com -- I experienced them firsthand. The guy who wrote that email was my supervisor at Gamers, and it was a very sad day indeed.
Our site surpassed several other major game sites in terms of traffic in its short time of existance. It's a shame the money ran out.
Anyone need an RPG & Board Games Content Editor? I'm available.
Maybe all these people from the different game companies that have been laid off permanently should get together and form their own gaming company.
First gamers.com, now Gamecenter.

This is depressing. Who's left?
